Epic Certified Expert · trained in-house · the badge and what it means

We don’t hire installers. We make them.

Every person who touches your glass is an Epic employee who spent months as an apprentice beside an Epic Certified Installation Specialist before working unsupervised — learning Epic’s own tooling, Epic’s own processes for hanging every film we install, and, for security film, the patent-pending Epic Method. No subcontractors. Ever.

The apprenticeship

Five steps from first day to the badge.

Epic’s internal training program — the same for every discipline, with the discipline’s own methods layered on.

01

Hired for the person, not the résumé

Most of Epic’s best installers had never touched a roll of film. We hire for care, patience and the ability to be taught — and we teach the rest. Epic does not pull installers off the street and send them to your building.

02

Months as an apprentice

Every new hire starts as an apprentice working beside an Epic Certified Installation Specialist: shop first, then live jobs, never alone. The apprenticeship runs for months, not days, and it ends when the lead signs off — not on a calendar date.

03

Epic’s tooling and processes

Epic has developed its own tools and step-by-step processes for hanging film — not just security film with structural sealant, but every film we install. Apprentices learn Epic’s way of prepping glass, handling film, squeegeeing, trimming and finishing an edge, with the same tools on every truck.

04

The Epic Method, hands-on

For security film, the apprentice learns the patent-pending Epic Method on test frames and then on the job: removing the interior gasket, driving the cork wedges into the open channel and cutting them flush, carrying the film to the frame and keying the structural silicone into the open channel. It is taught and checked, opening by opening.

05

Certified, and still checked

When the lead and the Field Project Manager agree, the apprentice becomes an Epic Certified Installation Specialist and earns the badge. The checking does not stop: every job closes out opening by opening against the pattern list, and the 3M warranty is registered within 30 days.

Five disciplines, five badges

Certified in everything we install.

The original badge said “Safety & Security Window Film” because that is where Epic started. Epic is certified — by 3M and by its own program — in every discipline on this list, and each one now carries its own mark.

Safety & security window film

The Epic Method: gasket out, cork wedges in, film to the frame, structural silicone keyed into the channel. The patent-pending installation system, taught hands-on and signed off opening by opening before a specialist works unsupervised.

Careers

Learn a trade from the ground up.

Epic hires people, not résumés. If you are careful, patient and willing to be taught, we will teach you a skilled trade — paid, on the job, beside the best installers in the industry — and you will finish with a certification that means something.

Field positions start as Apprentice Installation Specialist and grow to Certified Installation Specialist, Lead and Field Project Manager. Epic operates nationwide from McKinney, Texas and Aurora, Colorado.

Accountability, by initials

Every window has a record — and initials on every step.

Each installer logs every window in Epic’s app and initials each step — cleaning, gasket out, wedges, film, solvent wipe, tape, the structural bead, cleanup. Every building we have worked on is cataloged by room and opening with its measurements and film code, so a repair starts with a photo and a room number, not a re-survey. With your permission, a one-inch Epic tag in the corner tells whoever runs the building next who to call. How the record works →

FAQ

Epic Certified Expert questions

What does “Epic Certified Expert” mean?
It is Epic’s own badge and Epic’s own standard. Every person who installs for Epic is an Epic employee who completed Epic’s apprenticeship — months beside a certified specialist — and was signed off by the lead and the Field Project Manager before working unsupervised. There are no subcontractors, so the badge on the shirt, on the van and on this website all mean the same thing.
Is that different from being a “3M Authorized Dealer”?
Yes. Dealer status is about the company. Epic Certified Expert is about the person doing the work on your glass. Epic is a 3M Platinum Elite National Dealer and a 3M-trained DI-NOC installer, and on top of that it trains and certifies every specialist in-house.
I have seen other companies call their installers “certified experts.”
You have. Epic created the Certified Expert badge and the phrase; some competitors have since adopted the words. Ask the question that matters: certified by whom, trained how long, and are they employees? Epic’s answers are on this page.
Do you train on products other than security film?
Yes — every discipline Epic installs: solar and architectural window film, 3M DI-NOC architectural finishes, environmental graphics, and decorative and glass finishes. Each has its own Epic processes and its own badge.
Are you hiring?
Epic is always looking for people who care about doing a job right and are willing to learn a trade from the ground up. Experience with film is not required. Use the contact form and tell us about yourself, or call 866.EPIC.117 and ask for the office.
